Public Domain Textures and Reference Photos Flickr group
The Public Domain Textures and Reference Photographs group on Flickr, allows anybody to download the member’s high-resolution textures. Flickr users can submit their textures and reference photographs to it, so that their works become more visible and, thus, more useful.
Unfortunately, Flickr only allows paying users to share high-resolution images. See Flickr’s limits for precise information.
If you don’t have a Flickr pro account and want to have your textures or photos in the group, contact me via email or the whole group by starting a discussion. We can use our accounts to upload your pictures (with giving credit to you of course.)
In case you own a paid Flickr account, please consider donating some textures and/or reference pictures to the public domain. You can do this by following these steps:
- Write into the description that the picture is in the public domain (example) Note that it important that you refer to the Cretive Commons Public Domain Dedication.
- Tag the picture with the string “public domain”
- Join the Public Domain Textures and Reference Photos group
- Add your correctly described and tagged images to the group’s pool
I started the group because I found some textures in the public domain there, but they had no central place and were not easy to find: the tagging system was disturbed, as it was abused by some commercial provider of textures who used “public domain” tags for his non-free textures.
After starting it, I invited malik williams and MyNameMattersNot, who both had textures in the public domain, to join the group, which they thankfully did.
