BurningWell.Org Free Public Domain Images and Photos

BurningWell.Org is a resource for all kinds of images in the public domain and has an extensive textures section. It provides and accepts high-resolution pictures. You can even submit images anonymously.

Image title, descriptions and tags are possible. The search function however only supports text search; a tag-browser is missing.

The administrator of BurningWell.Org explained his motivation for starting the site:

I was working on a pamphlet, and looking for high resolution photos to use. I found a lot of photo sharing sites on the Internet, but a lack of sites that host completely public domain photos for people to use for whatever purpose they wanted. At the same time, I had several good photos that I was willing to give away. So I started BurningWell.org to host public domain pictures so that others who needed stock photography could get photos for free.
